NetworkChuck: “I hate AI” Link to heading

NetworkChuck has long been one of my favorite channels for learning new things, particularly (as the name would suggest!) networking and infrastructure topics. His recent content on AI tools and workflows have also helped me learn new things, and think about many of the ways development is changing with the advent of new AI tools.

I appreciate balanced and honest takes like this…they are refreshing amidst the waves of hype around new technologies. There is a lot of uncertainty about where the market for software engineers is headed, but I tend to agree with more balanced takes like those in this video.

Creative problems solvers have always been valuable in all spaces, not just software engineering. The ability to think critically and dig through and solve unique and complex problems is a skill in its own right. I tend to think of AI as a catalyst for this type of skill - for those that want to learn, adapt, and grow it acts as a force multiplier.

Excited to see where we go from here!

Do you think AI acts as a force multiplier for the curious and driven, or is software engineering as we know it being redefined into something entirely new?
